LATEST NEWS:

Stay up to date with my projects, photography shoots I am planning, events I am attending and more!

Looking back:

The tree that finally fell.

In 2022 I took this image during an exploration of the mossy pockets the forest offers. I have visited this tree numerous times since, and always wondered how to improve this image. I did not come up with anything ground breaking, and never did experience better conditions, as the light just doesn't seem to reach this deep into the trees. Regardless, I've been fond of this falling tree and its gnarled roots, wondering when it would finally tumble. It seems the recent Autumn weather has finally helped this character over, and many around it as well. It's fascinating to watch the landscape change, whether it's through natural or human causes. This image may not be absolutely ground breaking, but it is a scene that can no longer be recreated, and a moment that no longer exists.

2026 Workshop:

Thank you so much to everyone who joined me this year for workshops! I think it's safe to say we all had a blast and it was lovely to meet so many people from different walks of life.

Many of you have reached out in regards to next year's UK workshops, and at the moment I have no plans to run workshops in 2026. This is not because I do not enjoy doing so, I love them! I simply wish to put my focus towards another channel of my work. That being said, I may change my mind ha and if so you will know by Spring. I will still be a part of Siren Adventure Tours though and be running tours out to Iceland throughout the year!

What's next on Youtube?

In my latest video, I talk about my experience with the Hasselblad X2D, how it fits in my camera bag and discuss the reality of 'high-end' camera equipment.

Next up:   I currently have no other projects on the go as we head into Christmas. I am taking some time to catch up on some smaller office jobs and plan where I want to take my photography, and videos, next. I'm going to enjoy some photography off-camera over the holiday period, and be back in the New Year! Of course, naturally I am thinking about what videos I'd like to make next and I have plenty of ideas! It's usually a case of weather watching to see what is likely to work, or how to make 'themes'/'topics' I am inspired by to fit with what I do have to work with. Either way, I look forward to sharing further content with you!

Weekly Fungi Hunt:

Gear of the Month:

Fungi are still popping up here and there locally! It's a very wet and mild December so far, and we are technically not into winter just yet, and so the growth continues. I have not had time for a fungi walk to see what I can find, but I did photograph these mycena not long ago and had some fun getting creative with coloured LED lighting. I may take a walk this week to see what else I can spot. On a brief outing the other day, I did spot some ink caps growing at Speech House, and some Brittle gills at New Fancy. The trail at Pwll Y Wrach has plenty of growth too (although it's very muddy!)

My Filming Set Up:

My Nikon Z30 and main filming lens (24mm f/1.7) go through a lot. I certainly put them through their paces! I've been asked about what I use to film a lot recently, and this is it! Some of you may remember I recently had to replace my Z30 body, and it wasn't due to water (rain) damage as you may have expected! The LCD screen simply gave out after so much use and it just happened to do so in the midst of a rather heavy shower. I toyed with the idea of changing this set up seeing as I had to replace the camera body anyway, but I realised that it worked so well for what I do. That, and setting it up is practically muscle memory at this point! I enjoy the quality of footage that I get from this camera and it's a huge part of every video project.
