LATEST NEWS:

Stay up to date with my projects, photography shoots I am planning, events I am attending and more!

Remaining workshop spaces:

There are a few spaces still left for fungi (beginner and photo walk) and waterfalls at Blaen Y Glyn workshops! I can't wait to get started with these in October and be a part of your photography journey. It's shaping up to be a great fungi season at the moment which is fantastic!

These will be the only workshops I will be doing over the next year, as in 2026 I will be focusing on other projects and travelling a little more. Hopefully, I'll be able to plan and announce 2027 workshops mid next year.

Updates:

A Guide to Focus Stacking (and Bracketing) for Macro Photography' is now available! This 40-page eBook is packed with practical tips, step-by-step guides, and solutions to common challenges in macro photography. Inside, you'll learn how to manage depth of field, perform both manual and automated focus bracketing in the field, and troubleshoot issues with failed stacks.

You can preview the eBook, including the full table of contents, to see if it’s the right fit for your macro photography journey. Writing this was an absolute joy, and I’m incredibly grateful to the generous photographers who reviewed early drafts and offered thoughtful feedback. Your insights helped shape this guide into something truly useful, so thank you!

OM System:

I have finally invested in my own OM1 Mark II for my photography after a year of trying it on and off for various projects. Some of you may wonder why I have done this, and whether this means I am putting down my Nikon kit for good. My D850 is still kicking around and I have no desire to remove it from my camera bag. The OM1 Mark II is going to be my travel and lightweight set up, as next year I will be travelling more often and potentially hiking a lot too. There are numerous reasons why this set up will be beneficial to me and my photography (it probably needs a blog post ha) and I have spent the past year making sure this was the right decision. The two cameras suit different styles and needs for me, and so which one I take out for photography will simply depend on my mood and the shoot in question!

What's next on Youtube?

In my latest video, I try out the new 50-200mm f/2.8 IS Pro from OM System. You can see it in action with the video below and see what I get up to with it!

Next up: Longer projects. Next week you'll see a woodland vlog, where I shelter from terrible weather with my macro lens. The landscape adventure I had originally planned is now delayed until October, when I am back from a workshop in Iceland and less likely to be blown about by crazy winds! You won't see any long form videos from Iceland, as I've decided it would be best to focus on the workshop and my own photography. This means I will be taking two weeks out of filming, but I have plenty of project ideas ready to jump straight into during Autumn.  Beyond this, I have just traded in my XCD 55MM lens for two other lenses, one being a wide angle. I will be doing some landscape work with these and expressing my thoughts on the Hasselblad X2D as I said I would at the beginning of the year. It's a mixed bag of thoughts I'll tell you that!

Weekly Fungi Hunt:

Oooh what lovely rain we've been having! The fungi have been popping up left right and center recently, lots of small clusters, but the variety is not what I expected! Plenty of bonnets are popping up but I have yet to stumble across the bolettes and brittlegills I generally find this time of year. Regardless, if this moisture continues it is shaping up to be a great fungi season this year. Fingers crossed it is like Autumn of 2022, where I genuinely found mushrooms the size of footballs! The urge to boot one across the forest floor was unreal, but I managed to ignore that impulsive thought and gave it a pat on the cap instead. The jiggle was beautiful. Anyway, here's a sneak peak of a fungi image I've yet to post anywhere else!

Gear of the Month:

16-35mm Wide Angle Lens:

Lately, I’ve been falling back in love with my wide-angle lens. For a while, it spent far too much time on the shelf while I reached for other favourites, especially my 100–400mm. But recently, it’s been getting a lot more time in my camera bag, and I’m thoroughly enjoying it again.

It’s been perfect for capturing the breathtaking landscapes of North Wales, and I’ve even taken it into the forest for some bold, dramatic compositions (yes, I know...a wide angle isn’t exactly the go-to for woodland shots!).

With my trip to Iceland just around the corner, I’m certain the wide angle will see plenty more action. I love searching for compelling foreground elements, playing with perspective, and breaking away from the standard eye-level view. Here are a few of my recent wide-angle shots—enjoy!
