New Workshop dates!
I have already posted some dates for this years Autumn Fungi/Macro Workshops in the Forest of Dean. You can find dates and more information here.

I have also just added a couple of extra dates for a general Autumn Macro Workshop in the Forest of Dean and a one day workshop on the Blaen Y Glyn Trail in the Brecon Beacons National Park! You can take a look at my workshop page with the link below for more information and feel free to get in touch if you have any questions!

Updates:
Print store:
My print store is currently closed as I am reviewing how to make selling prints more manageable and more cost effective. It is likely I will change to selling limited edition prints in the future, with 'rounds' of images being released every so many weeks or months (a thought in working process ha). I'll try to keep you updated on this.

A Guide to Focus Stacking (and Bracketing) for Macro Photography' is now available! This 40-page eBook is packed with practical tips, step-by-step guides, and solutions to common challenges in macro photography. Inside, you'll learn how to manage depth of field, perform both manual and automated focus bracketing in the field, and troubleshoot issues with failed stacks.

You can preview the eBook, including the full table of contents, to see if it’s the right fit for your macro photography journey. Writing this was an absolute joy, and I’m incredibly grateful to the generous photographers who reviewed early drafts and offered thoughtful feedback. Your insights helped shape this guide into something truly useful, so thank you!
What's next on Youtube?
In my latest video, I dive into the world of insect photography in attempts to take my macro photography to the next level!

Next up: Longer projects. Despite having been making videos for a while now, I still feel as though I am still trying to figure out how I want to continue with this long term. At the moment, I am favouring longer projects where I can record the progress of a trip, of my images, of a story etc, over multiple days. This is what I am going to continue with, however, it does involve more days filming and editing. Despite more work going into each video, this style is what I am excited by and have a lot of fun with. I am currently partly way through filming a video exploring my mid-summer photography slump, (hands up if you're also in need of some motivation!) working on another artificial light in macro photography exploration, and have some landscape shoots planned. I feel the need to walk far and wide, and so my landscape shoots will likely involve a minimal kit set up and some good old hiking!

'Macro and Me' - Interview Feature
I had the pleasure to work alongside Vanguard with a couple of blog posts, one an interview style feature about my macro photography including a few useful tips! The second is a great guide to Vanguard tripods for macro photography, featuring the tripod range that I use myself for my own work. You can check these out with the links below!

Weekly Fungi Hunt:
I was exploring a new bit of woodland around an hour away from home when I spotted these little guys on a fallen tree! It is a shame I didn't have a macro lens with me, but they do say that the best camera you have is the one that you have with you at the time. In this case it was my phone! There are mushrooms out and about at the moment, not many but a few! I have my fingers crossed for a very wet Autumn so that they grow in abundance!

Gear of the Month:
Photography Book Purchases:
I LOVE reading, and books, and anything to do with books. Every so often I throw my money at a photography related book, whether it's to support another photographer, to learn about techniques, find new location inspiration or just to marvel at talented people's work. This week I bought 'Wales Cymru by Nigel Forster' after I saw it recommended in Outdoor Photography magazine. A beautiful book. Wales is really a gem for landscape photographers and nature lovers! It has encouraged me to finally go on a few walks that I've had down in my 'to explore' list for a while. I'm sure I will share those with you too!
Adaptalux Lighting System

I had the pleasure of using and adding the Adaptalux lighting kit to my camera bag for my macro photography this month. You're probably thinking, why would I choose this over the simple panel LED lights I've been using thus far?
Adaptalux lighting is specifically designed for macro photography, offering precise, modular arms that can be individually positioned to light tiny subjects from exact angles. Unlike broad LED panel lights, Adaptalux allows for detailed control over intensity, color, and diffusion, making it ideal for capturing fine textures and small-scale details.
LED panel lights are fantastic for general illumination, and will still go into my camera bag for simple set ups and macro shoots. However, for getting really creative, this lighting system is so much fun to use! If you'd like to see me using this kit, I will link a video below where I use it in the field, and I'll leave a link to the Adaptalux website too.
